Okay, keeping your social network profiles up-to-date is like washing your car. We all know that it needs to be done, but let’s be honest, we’re busy and it doesn’t happen as often as we like.
Here’s the number one reason why you should keep your LinkedIn profile up-to-date: the “Jobs you may be interested in” section. The more information you have in your LinkedIn profile about your background, experiences and interests the more new job opportunities related to your abilities and experience will pop up in your LinkedIn homepage.
For example, I have brand management, marketing, entrepreneurial experience and I live in the southern Ontario, so all the job postings related to those experiences and that geographical area are shown in the right hand side of my LinkedIn homepage.
It’s like having your own personal recruiter search for jobs for you and emailing the postings to you in real-time! This is an amazing tool if you want to find a new job.
If you only keep one social media profile up to date, keep your LinkedIn profile up to date – your career may depend on it.
