Waterloo, ON – United Way KW celebrated its 2014 Community Spirit Awards on February 28, in the ballroom at the Waterloo Inn. With nearly 200 people in attendance, 42 individuals and organizations were honoured, all of whom have made significant and valuable contributions to United Way KW and the surrounding community.
In a short speech, CEO Jan Varner thanked each and every person who contributed to the community impact work of United Way KW over the past year, and 2013 Campaign Champion Tim Jackson noted that none of the work that United Way KW does in the community could happen without the support of volunteers.
The Organization Support Award recognizes an organization that exemplifies the spirit of United Way KW by supporting the organization’s daily operations. Sourov De, president of Stryve (pictured left), received the award on behalf of the company at the event. Stryve worked with United Way KW in 2013 on its website relaunch as well as building its social media marketing strategy.
“United Way KW Community Spirit Awards were a fantastic experience. In true United Way KW form, the awards ceremony was upbeat and fun. The staff and volunteers do an excellent job of recognizing all the people and organizations that support them to reach their goals,” Sourov said.
