The new year is a perfect time for a fresh start–both personally and professionally. Here we break down five digital marketing resolutions you should make in 2016.
Be Selfless
In 2016, focus on user experience first. Develop your marketing strategies around your customers and use your digital marketing savvy to make their lives easier. Help solve your customers’ problems and achieve your marketing goals, while also making the world-wide-web a little less confusing. This year, say goodbye to things that hinder user experience (we’re looking at you popups) and welcome a more selfless kind of marketing.
Aim for 10X Content
We’ve all heard it before: content is king. However, with the amount of content available, it’s becoming tougher to stand out. The harsh reality: creating anything less than great content is simply white noise–and while great content is uncommon, 10X content is rare (unicorn rare). Make your content king in 2016 by asking yourself: Is this content 10 times better than anything similar? You’ll benefit from the SEO and traffic boost and your customers will benefit by reading fresh, original content.
Follow a New Blog
As digital marketers, we’re pretty lucky when it comes to killer educational content. This year learn something new and add to your RSS feed by following at least one new digital marketing blog. Our top picks include: Moz, Unbounce, and Percolate. Aside, from following a new blog, don’t be afraid to expand your horizons and dive deep into a new subject. Want to be a better marketer? Why not check out psychology, philosophy or geography – you never know what you might learn.
Get Inspired
The new year is a perfect time to break out of a rut, dust yourself off and take a fresh approach to marketing. Look for inspiration, whether daily, weekly or monthly, and use it to break out of your creative comfort zone. If you’re struggling to think outside of the box, look to other digital marketers for inspiration or check out a Stryve favourite: Panda for Google Chrome.
Automate Already
If you haven’t already invested in some form of marketing automation tool, 2016 is the perfect time to get started. Spend more time developing and implementing killer strategies by investing in automation tools that make the hum-drum tasks of digital marketing that much easier. In addition to saving you time, many automation tools have some seriously powerful capabilities to give you deeper insights that the C-suite will love.
Bonus Resolution: Give back
Don’t let the holiday season be the only time that you give back. Pay it forward with a coffee, help a coworker learn something new, or take on a passion project to help those in need. Whatever you do, kill 2016 with kindness – because that’s good for everyone. Happy 2016!
