We’ve been having a common conversation with friends and colleagues about the iPad, a lot of people are saying something to the effect “I have a laptop and Blackberry… why do I need an iPad?”
Because… “like OMG… the iPad is like…so cool…duh!?”
Kidding, using an iPad is bit more pragmatic than that.
Simply put this device will revolutionize the way people will consume information (video and text) just the same way a cell phone revolutionized the way people communicate. After test driving the iPad at The Apple Store, we’ve ordered a couple for the office and are very excited about using it to present business ideas to potential clients and to stay on top of information wherever we go.
So if you have a laptop and a Blackberry what’s the use of getting an iPad? The big distinction between this and other computer hardware devices is how pleasant the user interface is to interact with in addition to its remarkable portability.
The way I see it, with a laptop unless you have a cellular provider’s “internet stick” you can’t get an internet connection everywhere you are. For example, here in Canada The Rogers wireless Rocket Stick lets you connect to the internet in most metropolitan areas when you plug it into your laptop and pay for the service, this comes in handy if your in the car a lot for work purposes. With a Blackberry the screen is very small so you can’t really present things well to other people/view websites easily. The iPad is the device that solves both dilemmas.
- You can be connected to the internet via cellular towers on the 3G network- this can’t be done with a typical laptop.
- The iPad is slimmer and lighter weight than a laptop.
- The iPad easier to turn-on and keep when you’re on the go. I wish my laptop didn’t take so long to boot up and the battery life wasn’t so short (4 hours).
- The iPad has huge a 9.5 x 7.5 inch touch screen which is obviously way easier to read things on than a typical Blackberry with a 2 x 2 inch screen
There you have it, 4 reasons why a laptop and Blackberry user needs an iPad.
