The day has finally arrived—Facebook has begun the final timeline push swapping out the log-in page suggestion to “try out timeline” with the newsflash that you will have no choice but to “enjoy timeline” starting August 21st. Many would argue that “enjoy” isn’t quite the right word to use. Users have been transitioned in waves, some having experienced Timeline since its introduction back in 2011. From the first movers that couldn’t wait to jump on board to the old-profile-holdouts that have been gripping onto their plainer profile layouts, there has been an extremely broad spectrum of reactions.
It’s not often that a social media platform implements a major layout overhaul without some sort of backlash (read: whining and crying) from users, but Facebook Timeline seems to have taken the cake. Mashable reported via a SodaHead poll that almost three-quarters of respondents would get rid of Timeline if they could.
