One day that sets the tone for the next 365

Just before we break for the holidays each year, Stryve has a post-it note party. We block off the day in our calendars. We get out of the office. No client calls, no meetings. The team heads to the private room of one of our favourite local restaurants where divergent thinking flows like wine (and so does the wine).
Every year, one big, inspiring question is posed to the team
It gives our minds the opportunity to think much bigger than our daily to-do lists. It gives our team the opportunity to dream much bigger about the company we are building. It also gives everyone a chance to share their ideas, whether they have been a Stryve’r for 8 weeks or 8 years.
Last year we asked ourselves, “Wouldn’t it be cool if…”
We all thought about this question before the meeting and came prepared to jot down our ideas on post-it notes. There’s one rule: Whether it’s practical or pie-in-the-sky, every idea has a spot on the table.
Then, a couple of cool things happened
We noticed we had some very similar ideas. It showed how in-sync we are because of our ongoing Friday afternoon Team Talks. Tons of ideas were born on the fly, building off of what other team members wrote down. And, some of our most actionable ideas came from those pipe-dream ideas.
We had a purpose-driven year
In last Friday’s Team Talk, we reflected on where last year’s post-it note party got us. We’re working for amazing clients. They’re the kind of clients we have always dreamed about working for. We grew our team and expanded our resources. We have better processes that improve the way we get shit done. We are continuing to carve out our own culture. And most importantly, we have a clear direction on where we want to go.
